I grew up on a farm in Minnesota,and i used to take long walks. One winter when i was about ten years old,i decided to walk to a river about three miles from our house.I wanted to see if the river had frozen.It was sonwing lightly as i set out.I stayed at the river only a short time because when i got there,it had begun to snow heavily. I started walking back home very fast because the snow was getting thicker and heavier. Soon it was snowing so heavily that i couldn't see anything ahead of me except the footprints i had made on my way to the river.I kept hoping i would soon see the lights from our house .Then i noticed my footrints were gone;they'd been covered up completely by the falling snow! I was lost. I wasn't even sure which direction i should go in .I thought i would freeze to death and die in the snow. Then,all of a sudden,I heard a faint barking sound.It was our neighbor's dog,Sparky. Sparky found me and led me back to our neighbor's farm house.I was safe at last.
