There were no rafters or principal ribs for strengthening the roof besides the the common wrought-iron sash-bar… This caused some anxiety, for when the ironwork was put up, before it was glazed, the slightest wind put the whole of it in motion from the base to the summit… As soon as the glass was put in ,however, it was found to become perfectly firm and strong, nor did the slightest accident, from any cause, happen to it from the time it was completed in 1827, till ,on the death of Mrs. Beaumout , in 1832, it was sold by auction and taken down.

ACCORDING to Loudon, pieces from Bretton Hall conservatory were used on various patchwork green houses throughout the country. It is not clear what role Loudon had in this grand curvilinear design. In his 1853 the book of the Garden, the master gardener at the Dalkeith estate in Edinburgh, Charles McIntosh, says that the Bretton Hall Conservatory, says that the Bretton Hall conservatory was designed and erected by the Baileys. It is entirely possible that over an eleven-year period, which began with Loudon’s invention of the fires bar, they had developed a design build confidence of their own. A large model of Mrs Beaumont’s short-lived conservatory made its way much later to Frogmore Grardens, where it was presented to the Princess Royal by D&E Bailey, W&D’s successors, who were installing the new heating equipment there. It was their intention that it should be converted into a Wardian case for the Princess. BESIDES the curvilinear conservatory that they partially built for the Horticultural Society as Chiswick, D&E Bailey constructed the Pantheon Bazaar Conservatory and Aviary in Oxford Street, London, in 1834. This led from a Great Marlborough Street entrance into the Pantheon Bazaar designed by Sydney Smirke, on the site of the old Pantheon (now occupied by Marks &Spencer Ltd). Inside the conservatory were tropical birds and fish in bowls, along with papier-mache ornaments and sculpture. The Baileys most probably also built the triple-domed conservatory at Dallam Tower, Milnthorpe, Kendal, in the Lake District, and the delightful Palm House at Bicton Gardens, near Budleigh Salterton, in Devon, both of which still stand.
The date of the Bicton Gardens Palm House is questionable. Nikolaus Pevsnere considers that it was built between 1820 and 1825. however, Loudon made a trip to Lord Rolle’s Bicton estate just before his death in 1843 and makes no mention of the curvilinear construction in an extensive description in The Gardener’s Magazine. This might have been an oversight caused by professional envy, as Stephan Koppelkamm claims the Palm House is represented on a 1838 map. Whatever the date, the Palm House is a late and beautiful descendant of Loudon’s early designs. The detail of the elegant ironwork is reminiscent of other Bailey constructions, for example, that in the Loddiges’s Camellia House at Hackney or the Vinery at Langport. This unique desigh, which halves the number of glasing bars at

除了参与了在CHISWICK 的Horticultural Society 的曲线形温室的部分建设工作以外,(这里as应为at),1834年,D&E Bailey在伦敦的牛津大街又建造了Pantheon Bazaar温室和大型鸟舍,这套从Great Marlborough 大街的一个入口进入到Pantheon Bazaar的建筑是由Sydney Smirke在Pantheon的旧址(现在被Marks &Spencer 有限公司占用)上设计的。
