The Cornell method
I read the chapter 2 “Summary Writing for Business” on October 8, 2008.
According to the chapter, summary writing is a key business communication skill. As a law clerk student, it is very important to know what law clerk career is.
Besides knowing Knowledge of laws, court procedures and government regulations, a law clerk should have a set of skills and abilities, such as communications, computer, solving complex problem, and so forth. In addition, different law clerks have different tasks. Real estate law clerk would search land title, draft and examine contracts for purchase and sale; litigation law clerk would take notes of evidence and prepare legal documents relevant to court actions; family law clerk would prepare net family income and fill out legal forms.
I use mind mapping method to represent the idea of law clerk career. Through connecting the main ideas branch, sub-ideas branch and related detail ideas branch by lines, I make a clear sketch to help people make sense of law clerk career easily.

Cornell note taking, outlining and mind mapping are all wonderful methods for preparing a summary. Cornell note taking method focuses on capturing the essence of the information; outlining put emphasis on providing structure for the information; mind mapping help people expand on an idea by drawing a sketch.
