What is friendship?
A form of divine affection
Deep and profound
More precious than silver or gold
And sometimes taken for granted

Friendship is you and I
Sincere and close
Talking beneath a cloudy sky
Walking together in the dark

During the day
You are the ray of sunshine
During the night
You are my guiding light

My friendship is here to stay
But I fear our friendship will go astray
I fear sorrow
I fear loss
I fear of losing you tomorrow

A part of you has grown within the depth of my soul
The day we part
Will break my heart
Never apart, maybe in distance
But not in spirit

I will miss the time we spent together
I will miss the sound of your voice
I will miss the smile I used to see
I will miss the laughter I used to hear
Above all, I will miss the mere presence of you

I am torn between
what was,

And what should be

Is there a cure for missing you?
Every promise made
Every uttered word
Every memory saved
For the friend I once knew

I’ll be waiting for your return
Everlasting, like the day and night

If one of us had to forget one another

Absence from the heart is terrible
The feeling is unbearable
to recall a friend from only memory
