It is year 1941 in Casablanca, Most parts of Europe had come under Nazi rule. For Europeans,the city lying in the north of Morocco was the only safety exit to America. Tension rose over it.

Rick was a mysterious man who was running a local cafe. Victor Laszlo, a Czech resistance leader visited Rick's cafe one day with his wife Ilsa, hoping to get a letter of transit from him. Rick found that Ilsa was his ex-lover. After Rick forgave her, she was unable to make a choice between Rick and her husband. While Rick was determined to escort the couple away, though he remained faithful to Ilsa. As the German major was about to phone the airport tower to stop the plane, Rick shot him, seeing Ilsa off then.
