念书与读书(转)
何妨把念书和读书来一个新的意义划分,就像区别旅游和旅行那样.时人流行旅游,淡泊旅行,教育这回事,当今兴的也是念书,不是读书.
到学校生活,像是打一场仗,参与者身上装的,是各种掠夺分数的锦囊.考关一过,不管分数到手与否,一律把生吞活剥的知识忘掉.这种心态,书,真是用来念的,念过就算数,不必消化,更不必用心.以此类推,书念得多,不一定成仙得佛,要例证满街都是,会考结束那天,好些学生欢呼:可以把书本丢掉了啦!是典型的念书例证.把这种现象归于念书旗下,可捡来"小和尚念经,有口没心"一句撑腰,解释比较圆满.
投入心思,广为涉猎,是比归纳,消化分析书中材料,不以分数为终极,才具备"读书"的起码要求,读书以兴趣出发,以诚意相许,读书只有歇脚小站,没有终点.
读书是长期旅行,是开拓心灵的漫长陶冶过程;念书是短程旅游,是满足文凭欲望的虚幻纸笔战争,读书是春风化雨,修得一身气质,终身受用;念书是糊涂度日,走一段世俗小路,荒凉而乏善可陈.
天底下念书的人多,读书的人少.因为读书需要跋涉,讲求兴趣耐力,缺一不可.

Why not make a distinction between reading a book and studying a book, like that between a tour and a journey. Today's people often prefer tours over journeys. The same is true in education: what is hot is reading, not studying.

To live a life in school is like fighting a war. The soldiers equip themselves with tips for raiding marks. Once the testing days are over, whether if they made their loot or not, all of those knowledge that were swallowed whole are forsaken. In such mind sets, books are really just for reading. Once a book is read it is counted, with no need for digestion, nor participation from heart. Then comes naturally a conclusion, that reading books in bulks in no way guarantee enlightenments. Need examples? They are everywhere. On that last day of that exam period, those little girls crying out loud "we can drop the books now!" make perfect models of book readers. Letting this phenomenon be put under the flag of "reading" gets it a proverb "little monks reading scriptures, lips are moving, hearts are missing" for support, as a nice round up for the explanations.

Thinking deeply into heart, dipping broadly into spectra, categorizing like topics, digesting concrete materials, and not orienting marks as the final goal, are just the basic requirements for “studying books”. Studying begins from interest, is accompanied by sincerity, takes breaks at rest stops, but never reaches a destination.

Studying is a long journey; a slow cultivating process to open minds; reading is a short tour, a virtual war of the pens and papers to satisfy the desire for diplomas. Studying is the life-giving breeze of spring, growing characters and lasting through life; reading is the muddling drift of time, walking the earthly alley and passing only barren desolations.

Under the skies, more are reading, and few are studying, for studying would mean marches, would take interest and perseverance, and cannot carry on missing either.

Learning is a long journey, a long cultivation process for open up minds; reciting is sightseeing, an illusory war of papers and pens to satisfy the desire for diplomas. Learning is the spring breeze, cultivates one’s temperament for life; reciting is just wasting life away, nothing left to tell.
