2.18 Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region


2.18.1 Brief Introduction to the Casting Industry in this Region
For long, the base of industry in this region has been quite weak , and the casting industry is not so developed as well compared with that of other provinces in China. But since 1990s, with the great development of machine industry in this region, especially brought up by auto and engineering machinery industry , the casting industry in this area has also been greatly facilitated since then. Today, the production per year in this region has reached 300,000 tons. And among these castings, the output of castings for dissel engines is nearly 80,000 tons per year, while that for engineering machinery is nearly 40,000 tons per year. The investigation shows that there are more than ten foundries(workshops) whose production capability is over 5,000 tons per year, in which there are 4 foundries whose production capability is over 10,000 tons per year. Liuzhou City, Yulin City, Nanning City, Guilin City and Wuzhou City are the first five cities whose casting industry has been more advanced than others in this region. In recent years, due to the limited capability of production of castings , a certain amount of castings needed in this region still need to be supplied by other provinces of China. There should surely be considerable space for the development of casting industry in this region in the future. Township enterprises of castings have developed a lot in the last a few years. According to some statistics, there are altogether 336 foundries (workshops) in this region and among which 305 are professional ones. The total number of employees in these foundries(workshops) is 11,500 persons.

（1）Introduction to the standard of the technical equipment
In the last 15 years, advanced technology and equipment have been widely applied in the foundries in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. All the castings for engineering machinery, part of the castings for engines, air compressors and machine tools are using resin sand to make the molds and the cores. The equipment includes: 3 resin sand flaskless molding lines introduced from Italy, 2 resin sand flask molding lines make in China. Some foundries(workshops)introduced cold core box(含三乙胺硬化和二氧化硫硬化) and precoated sand core making technology. Clay green sand molding facilities includes: one 静压 molding line introduced from Germany, five air impact molding lines and two iron pattern precoated sand ductile iron 曲轴 production lines. Beside these, there are altogether nearly ten automatic lines which use traditional light jolt compactions and jolt compactions. Some other technology of casting like lost foam casting, 电渣融铸，连续铸管 and spun pipes(centrifugal pipes) have also been applied in the production. Many of the foundries are using cupola_ induction furnace duplex melting or electric induction furnace melting.
（2）introduction to the key factories who supply auxiliary materials for casting production
1) Liuzhou City Jingguang Casting Materials Factory (used to be Liuzhou City Guangming Casting Materials Factory).
This is the biggiest factory in Guangxi who supplies precoated sand, coating for castings, furan resin and 固化剂，cold core box resin and demoulding agent,dinder、型芯修补膏；
2)Yuchai Industry and Chemistry Co. Ltd.
This company mainly produces precoated sand and furan resin etc.
3)Ningming County and Tianyang County have rich resources in bentonite, while Beihai District has nice quality natural sand for casting.

(3)The educational facilities for casting professionals
There are altogether two universities and one mid_level college who have casting departments , while there are also three casting technical schools.
