如何区别following和as follows?

1.Following"下列",作为现在分词,可以形容名词.例如:
All the most important English verbs are included in the
following list.
2.Following前加定冠词可以构成名词. 例如:
The following is the full text of the communique.
下面是公报的全文.
The following are especially to be avoid.
下面(几点)务虚避免.
(注意前面二句的动词,数随意义而变.)
3.Following由过去分词逐渐在报纸杂志中变成前置词,表示"在...之后". 例如:
There was loud and prolonged applause following the
speech.
4.As follows是习惯用语,as是联系代词,follows是动词.不论时间,不论所指的事物是复数还是单数,一律用follows. 例如:
The two manifestos are as follows.
注意:这种场合下,绝对不能用are as following,也不能说are in
the following,或are as in the following.
