We will never forget that in its earliest days, the hospital was simply a clinic staffed by a few doctors and nurses, with a few beds in a couple of rooms and tools as primitive as thermometers and stethoscopes, though the hospital now provides comprehensive services with its up-to-date equipments, such as 1.5T superconducting NMR machine, electron linear accelerator, multi-detector CT, C-arm image intensifier, and CR digital processor, as well as its modern, multifunctional, over-40,000- square-meter buildings for training and hospitalization.

Under the leadership of the hospital’s authority, new measures have been frequently introduced to facilitate new developments, and ,as a result, the hospital has been progressing by leaps and bounds year by year thanks to the concerted efforts by all its staff.

While our services in general surgery, urinary surgery, cardiac rehabilitation nursing, gynecological department, pediatric department , ophthalmic department have been the hospital’s distinguishing characteristics, we have made more than 70 technical breakthroughs in a variety of fields, including artery coronary bypass grafting, transplantation of kidney, transplantation of dissociating latissimus dorsi muscle, transradial approach for coronary angiography and PTCA with stenting, arthroscopic treatment of knee joint injury，laparoscopic cholecystectomy, glaucoma valve implantation for treatment of refractory glaucoma, limbal stem cell transplantation, and combined use of ESWL and URSL.

The hospital has won 45 prizes awarded by provincial and municipal governments for progress in science and technology, and published over 560 academic papers in provincial and national journals. Since we have attached great importance to talent training and sci-tech team building, more than 40 staff members with a doctor’s or master’s degree have been nurtured, and 16 skilled talents with a senior or associate senior professional title have been brought in.
