it is more important for building to serve its purpose than looks beautiful. Architects should not worry about building as works of act。


In the present climate, the issue whether the function of the building is more important than the appearance become a vexed question which people retain diverse attitudes. Advocates claim that it is unnecessary to consider the aspect of art through the construction. Opponents, on the other hand, argue that acts should be added in the design by Architects. Let us get down to the nitty gritty in this discussion from both sides of the coin.

Those who approve of the former point have cogent reasons to it. First of all, when government or people will build some establishments they will be investing large amounts of money, on which they will want to earn some return. All these money must be managed very carefully, especially in the building process. No one will doubt that if building includes some artistic designs, as a result, the budget will be increased definitely. Second, by the same token, reduced budgets can be used in other more significant area, for instance, to ensure all the useful facilities can be established in the building. Furthermore, people who live or work in that building are more comfortable and convenient.

Nevertheless, the voices form the other side it is strong opposition, saying that there
are a lot of benefits if the building will include some artistic culture. For one thing, the building which has arts of designs is the jewel in the crown for society. No only stimulate the development of the culture, but also promote the tourism, such as Big Ben in London, it can be representative for city or countries, attracting many tourists form other countries, became the unique cultural heritage in the world. Equally important, arts are also an important port and parcel of people’s spiritual life. Rich artistic heritage and culture can contribute to the spiritual civilization for each and every one of you.

It is quite understandable that people form different backgrounds put different interpretations on the same issue. As to me, I strongly support the latter view, the advantages are more obvious. As a matter of fact, architects who show the art in their building, bringing people some spiritual satisfaction, remaining the culture heritage for the society.
