解答:
1、where引导地点状语，原剧本是省略了in someplace ，the rat was caught in someplace,注意了，这里必须用介词in,用了介词的就只能用where来代替，做状语，that做可以代替宾语而不是状语。
2、that引导宾语从句时，在一般情况下可以省略，但有些情况就不能省，当从句中出现do 的各种时态时就不能省。
3、the reason is that 是固定搭配
