形容词的倍数表达法

(1) as +形容词原级+ as
This room is three times as large as that one. 这个房间是那个房间的三倍大。
The old man is twice as old as I am. 这个老人的年龄是我的两倍大。
(2)倍数+ more than
this room is three times larger than that one. 这个房间比那个房间大两倍。
The old man is two times older than I am. 这个老人的年龄比我大一倍。
(3)倍数+ that/those of
His weight is three times that of mine.他的体重是我的体重的三倍。
实际上，that of 相当于as much as
即His weight is three times as much as mine.
(4)倍数+ n. + of 其中n.表示“比较的方面”，例如：weight, size, age等
this room is three times the size of that one. 这个房间是那个房间的三倍大。
习题及讲解
例一：The world’s deepest cave, Pierre St. Martin in the Pyrenees Mountains, is almost three times as deep_____.
(A) as the Empire state building is high
(B) that the Empire state building is higher
(C) is higher than the Empire state building
(D) and the Empire state building’s height
[题解]此题答案为A，显然属于第一种倍数表达法，只不过答案中的“is high”让许多同学觉得别扭。实际上，当两种不同的尺度进行比较时，两个形容词都必须写出来；而一般情况下，由于两个形容词相同，只不过省略了罢了。
例如：The old man is twice older than I am (old).
例二：Alaska, the largest state of the United States in area, is more than twice the size than Texas.

[题解]此题为改错题，答案为D，此题考点为第四种倍数表达法，所以将D改为of. 有不少同学选C，但是C是正确的，修饰twice,表示“超过”，相当于over.
