下面是Due to用法和注意事项

一、due to可看作复合介词，作“由于”解：

1.Changes of state of matter are due to increased motion of molecules.（表语）物质状态的变化是由于分子运动增大的缘故。

2.The force due to gravitation causes objects to have weight.（定语）地心吸引力使物体具有重量。

3.A part of the energy is wasted in machines due to friction.（状语）一部分能量由于摩擦而消耗在机器内。

4.Their failure is due to the fact that they lack experience.（上句中due to…作表语，that后的从句也可视为the fact的同位语从句。这里也可把due to the fact that…整个地理解为表语从句。注意也可用来引出原因从句。参阅第258页上部二。）他们的失败是因为他们缺少经验。

二、两点注意：

Ⅰ.due原是形容词，后面有时也用上to，必须注意辨别：

1.He is due to speak tomorrow.（due作“预定的”解，to不是介词。）他预定明天讲话。

2.What is the amount due to him?（due作“应付的”解。）欠他多少？

Ⅱ.注意复合介词分开情况：

In many waters are found various kinds of minerals, to which substances the hardness of water is due.许多种水中发现有各种矿物质，而水的硬度就是由于这些物质引起的。

注：due to在意义上是和because of及owing to相同的。但是because of只能作状语，而due to和owing to 既可作原因状语，也可作表语。注意due to短语不要放在句首。
