"I first fell in love with Paris in the 1950s.Things are so much more ordered,and life is better."But certainly not cheaper.In some parts of London,rents can be twice those on Avenue Foch in Paris.
我想问的是，到底是伦敦物价高，还是巴黎物价高？
根据我的理解，前两句话表明巴黎生活质量好，但物价不便宜。第三句话说伦敦房租是巴黎的两倍。
那么这不就矛盾了吗？

翻译如下 ：我最初喜欢巴黎是在20世纪50年代左右。不过跟那时候相比，现在一切都更加井井有条，生活也是有滋有味，当然，消费就不见得比那时候便宜多少了。我记得以前在伦敦的某些地方，房租是巴黎那边（Avenue Foch应该是Foch大街）的两倍左右(也就是说那时候巴黎的房租只有伦敦的一半。那是候消费便宜多了)
我的理解是时态不一样
