Mark Twain once told people how he earned his first money.He was nine years old .One day he returned home sadly and told his father that he had to pay the school five dollars the next day or be given five lashes in front of everybody .
" What have you done?'his father asked angrily.
I've cut my desk with my pocket-knife,"was the answer.
His father was so angry that he gave his son five lashes .But he gave him the five dollaes so that his son would not be punished in public But the next the day Mrak Twain thought that since he had already taken five lashes ,he might as well take five more and keep the five dollars .So he did .That was how he earned his first money.
