Power up by walking
Walking a mile in boots may soon generate (产生) more than pain in your feet. It could recharge (充电) your cell phone.
SRI International,aresearch firm in California is making a very special shoe. It will change the energy of walking into electiric power. The power could charge batteries and other devices.
This is how the power is generated:
There is a tiny battery on the sole (鞋底), one side of the battery is negative and another is positive. As the person who is wearing the boots is walking, the electrodes (电极) move close together and then farther apart . the movement generates electricity.
According to SRI, thus far they have generated haif a watt of power . Haif a watt of power is more than enough energy to recharge a cell phone. However, they hope to increase the amount of power generated to two watts by the end of next January.Two watts is enough to power up small electronic devices such as handheld computers. Backed by the Defence Department, SRI is expecting smarter combat boots for soldiers.

根据SRI公司的消息，迄今他们已生产出了半瓦电(half a watt)，
半瓦电能已足够给手机充电了。然而，他们希望到明年一月底，增加功率产生出的电能增加到两瓦。两瓦电能就足以驱动小型装置例如手提电脑。由国防部的支持，SRI 公司期待为士兵生产更灵巧的战靴。
