I put my feet down but I couldn’t touch the bottom. I went right under water. There was no bottom to the sea any more! The sand had suddenly stopped sloping away gently. It had become an underwater cliff.
I don’t know how deep it was, because my feet couldn’t touch the bottom. I was sure I was going to swim back to where the water wasn’t so deep.
Fortunately, I did not have far to go. Soon my feet were able to touch the bottom again. But I knew that I had nearly drowned.
