解答:
首先，是个病句。
due to the wide spectrum of research topics it covers with focus on 把due to换成owing to更好，不换当然也凑合。
关键在于topics后面又用了it， 应该换成which或者that，形成定语从句。不管是due to还是owing to后面不能接句子的，只能是名词和修饰名词的定语从句。
最后focus本身就可以用作动词。不需要cover
句子改成：I chose this college to continue my study owing to its wide spectrum of research topics which focus on 某某方面.
（这里which指代research topics,毕竟不是范围集中于，而是研究课题关注于，集中于）
