The neglect of children by their parents can have many harmful effects. Three important ones are discussed here. Neglect affects a childs choices, a childs future, and a childs feeling. These effects overlap adding to the confusion he is already experiencing. A childs choices are effectd by the parents neglect. If a child does not get the healthy attention and affection from his parents he may withdraw socially or seek it elsewhere and all too often unhealthy choices are made. The future of the child is shaped by neglect and may set him on a long road of addictions and dysfunctional relationships in the future. There is a large percentage of abused children which become parents and pass their neglect on their children which become parents and pass their neglect on their children. A parents attitude around the child gives him many messages. You can get feelings of being unloved and unworthy of love that way. Instead of seeing this as a fault of the parent the child can get all bummed out and can internalize these feelings and see himself as bad, as faulty and as being different than other children.
