A day on the farm
Last October , the farmers needed help with the apple harvest . There were many apples on the trees . But there were not enough people to pick them . So Jim and his friends went to help the farmers .
It was hard work . but they really enjoyed it . The children picked many apples . Sometimes the apples were quite high , and they needed to climb up the trees with ladders . The children carried the apples to the trucks . The men and women lifted the fruit on to the trucks.
“I picked the most apples ,” said Li Lei.
“No, you didn’t!” said Han Meimei. “I did!”
“I know who picked the fewest ,” said Jim.
“Who?” asked the other children.
“Polly!”
