中国国务院新闻办书记赵启正在开幕式上说:"中美两国是伟大的国家,它们之间的关系不仅对本国十分重要,而且对世界的和平与发展十分重要."1972年尼克松总统第一次访问中国时说:"对美国人民来说,远隔太平洋的中国时一个遥远而神秘的过度."将近30年后的今天,这种神秘感虽然少多了,但两国之间的了解比应该达到的程度还相差很远.人民之间的了解和友谊时两国的基石.2000年,"中国文化美国行"就是为铺助这样的基石而努力的.


谈到亚洲的经济,一位世界银行的官员表示,他经常周游列国,几乎每周都会飞到亚洲.每次来到这里他都会感觉良好.他认为,亚洲克服了前所未有的经济困难,虽然经济转型估计还需要一段时间,但亚洲已经打下了良好的基础,足以建立起长期的繁荣稳定.因此,他对于亚洲经济,特别时中国经济的中,长期的发展感到乐观.他指出,到2020年,中国的生产总值会翻两翻,道道四万亿美元.他相信,只要亚洲各国努力把握面前的机遇,从长远看,亚洲经济的前景回事光明的.

In year 1972, president Nixon said on his first visit to china:" To American people, China is a remote and mysterious land far opposite the Pacific Ocean.
Although this mysterious feeling is less stonger today after nearly 30 years , the understanding and communication between the two countries do not reach the level than what they're expected to be.
The mutual understanding and the friendship between the people of the two nations are the footstone of two countries.
In year 2000, the program 'Chinese culture visit to America' is such an endeavour to set up this base.
Speaking of Asian economics, an Officer from the World bank states : he always visit many countries.nearly every week he would fly to Asia.every time when he came here, he had a good feeling.
He reckons, Asia has overcomed many economic problems never met before.
Although it takes time for the economic transitions but a good foundation has been built up, which is enough to establish a long term prosperity and stability.
Therefore he's optimistic about Asia economy,especially the mid-term and long-term growth of China economy.
He points out that China's GDP will be doubled in year 2020, reaching four trillion US dollars.
He is convinced, as long as every country in Asia can grasp the opportunities in front of them, from a far view, asian economy must have a bright prospect.
