opportunity （favorable time or chance）: 指给人行动，以达到目的的，希望等的合适机会，不含“偶然”之意。

例如： Such opportunities should not be missed. 这样的机会不应该失去。
I have no opportunity to get to know her. 我没有认识她的机会。


chance 主要指“偶然”出现的好机会。

例如：He has a chance to go to college. 他有机会上大学。
We met some foregners on the train and that was a good chance to practice our oral English. 我们在火车上遇到了几位老外，那是我们练习英语口语的好机会。
