Summary: Trough a comparison of the two characters in The Dream of a Red Mansion- Zhen Shiyin and Liu Xianglian, analyzing the real reasons for both of them retiring from the world as well as the meaning of a similar ending even they had different social status, my paper provides an explanation of a interacting relationship between one’s experience and the specific social developing background. Combining with the life experience, characters and mind-sets of the two, the real reason for them to have such ending was dominated by the Confucianism under the circumstances at that time. Therefore, it is safe for my paper to draw a conclusion that one’s behaviors at that time is connected with a falling situation of the society.
