我有两道关于英语定语从句的问题不理解，请大侠帮忙。
1.The building over there is a library, ( ) is a department store.
A.where B.west of which C.to the west of which D.in the west of which
上题答案给的是 B ，我想知道 C 为什么不行。
2.The only system I know ( ) will help you remember ( ) you have heard at a lecture is the system of keeping notes.
A.what;that B.which;what C.what;what D.that;which
上题答案给的是 B ，我用排除法选对了答案。但是对于第一个空，我想知道能否使用 that。（我产生这种疑问是因为先行词中含有 the only）

这个非限定性定语从句差的是主语。如果用a c d 都是地点状语。不能做主语。除非后面加个there。 there is a department store.
west 有名词，西方，西边。

2.The only system I know ( ) will help you remember ( ) you have heard at a lecture is the system of keeping notes.
A.what;that B.which;what C.what;what D.that;which

这里the only 后面应该用that，而且已经用过了，就是the only system (that) i know.

至于这里为什么用which，个人有2种理解，具体是哪种更好也不是太拿得准。

一种解释：如果先行词离从句较远，一般用which免得误会。这里which从句和先行词之间隔了一个从句。也就是说，这里the only system 有2个从句，一个是（that) i know,另一个是which ill help you remember （what you have heard at a lecture），而且这个从句里还套了一个宾语从句，就是括号里的。

第二种解释：这里which从句其实限定和修饰的是前面The only system I know 整体，相当于一个非限定从句。

其实第二个句子，考点在于是不是能分辨出，第一个空是定语从句，第二个空是宾语从句。难点在第一个空应该是定语从句。

关于问题补充：你确实想的很细，不过你再仔细想想，倒装是为什么？这种把介词短语提前的倒装，目的就是为了强调。假如是为了强调，就不该放到从句，而且还是一个非限定性从句。非限定性从句对主句来是说可有可无，一个附属的角色。

如果要强调，就要单独放一个句子，句首就开始倒装。这样才有强调的效果，不是么？就算是个复合句，强调也应该放主句里，英语很讲究主次关系。呵呵。
